Why the Negativity?

Flamingo Land has been the fastest growing theme park in the UK over the last few years but recently there has been so much negativity surrounding the park that it threatens to ruin what good the park have been doing. So what is it that has turned excitement about the future into doom and gloom?

Personally, I have probably been one of the worst culprits for being negative about the park. My experiences in the last couple of seasons have dampened my spirit, even though the park keep pushing their own boundaries with new attractions. The problem is, whilst great new rides do attract more visitors, they are not what make the day special, not for me at least.

I leave a theme park feeling like I’ve had a great day when something new has happened, something I wasn’t expecting. This hasn’t happened at Flamingo Land, it has just been same old same old! What could make that though? Well entertainment always works well and Flamingo Land aren’t short on good shows. They have the bird show, the sealion show, the Professor Bubble’s show and my favourite, the Bongo Warriors show. The problem comes when like me, you have seen them over and over for the last few years. What would really make my day special is entertainment that isn’t planned. Something like street entertainers walking around the park and interacting with guests. That would be fantastic and very memorable.

So what exactly has made me become so negative? It isn’t just the lack of entertainment, but the lack of customer service the park offer. Slow ride loading, swearing in front of families and pretty much staff not being one bit interested in helping the guests enjoy their day are all things that seem to be regular occurrences at the park. That is what has broken my spirit.

However, look at what the park are doing. They are adding fantastic new rides every year and working on other areas in the park on top of that. Not everything can be improved instantly, so I’m confident that in time, customer service will become a priority and staff will learn that some things just aren’t acceptable.

So despite the negativity, the future at Flamingo Land is still looking very bright and I’m looking forward to what they have up their sleeves next!

The Little Monsters have been known to walk around the park before and it’s a nice touch but I don’t see why it can’t be a permanent thing rather than once in a blue moon! Things like that can really make the day exciting for younger visitors and is something they will remember forever.

I like all the shows Flamingo Land has but I would like to see the Bongo show building be made a bit bigger so they can get more pepole in there. The Sealion show needs more seats too I think!

I have seen the little monsters and professor Bubbles out and about entertaining before, however, like Lee said, once in a blue moon isn’t enough!

What I would love to see is some entertainers around Lost Kingdom. Warriors would be a good idea. Some tribe-like actors, to go round the area, interacting with the guests in any way possible.

I would also like to see some costumed charactors around the entrance (perhaps Professor Bubbles and his gang could take upon this aera in the morning and at park closing… It really isn’t hard to entertain people. Flamingo Land just need to hire witty, crazy, fun, random people to do the job!

The only time i have seen Professor Bubbles is when he came off the stage on one of his shows but not seen him about in the park at all. I have seen the Little Monsters walking around though. May I ask if Professor Bubbles does decide to walk around the park what bits will he go to, I mean like past the plaza bar or next to it?

Wherever there’s plenty of people, so anywhere in the main theme park area really!

i think that the lack of customer service is the main issue at flamingo land, i can see what you mean also about having a great day when something unexpected happens. this season alton towers has been great for that with lots of street entertainers and loads of nice little touches. flamingo land just dont do enough and dont seem to think about guests’ experiences, it suprises me that with all the recent improvements in the park regarding theming and new installations, the quality of staff seems to have got worse, ths may just be because now that they are such a major park, things like staff swearing and smoking look more obvious, wheras in the park’s old fairground setting this would not look that obvious, its something that the park really need to wake up and look into, as it coul dbe seriously damaging to the company’s reputation, guests do pick up on things like that and i really dont think flamingo land management seem to realise just how important customer service is
